Anthony Sylvestre

Anthony Sylvestre speaks with Civic Fellows.

Mr. Sylvestre was born and grew up in Belize City where he attended St. Ignatius Primary School, St. John’s College, St. John Sixth Form and University College of Belize where he obtained his Bachelors in English Education. He was a teacher at the Anglican Cathedral College before he went away to pursue his legal training at the University of the West Indies (Barbados & Jamaica)and Norman Manley Law School. He has been practicing law since 2004 first as a crown counsel in the DPP’s Office and later as a private attorney.

He practices in a wide range of areas in the Family Court, Magistrate’s Court, Supreme Court,Court of Appeal and Caribbean Court of Justice.Mr. Sylvestre served as a member of the Belize Advisory Council, the Belize Advisory Council on the Guatemalan Claim, the Income and Business Tax Appeals Board and the Policy and Legislative Sub-Committee of the National Aids Commission.Mr. Sylvestre also served as a Senator in the National Assembly from March, 2014to March, 2016, and is also an Adjunct Lecturer in Business Law at the University of Belize since 2010

We will equip our Belizean youths known as Civic Fellows with lifelong learning skills and provide foundational knowledge from across the political ideological spectrum to foster critical thinking and dialogue and inspire a new generation of ethical nation builders.
